Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) is a genetic disease that affects the central nervous system and skeletal muscle. Those who suffer from SMA lose the ability to walk, eat, and breathe without medical intervention.

Spinal Muscular Atrophy symptoms begin at the age in which motor function is affected. The earlier the age of onset, the greater the impact on motor function.

This month we aim to educate others and generate support for those with Spinal Muscular Atrophy.
