Migraine & Headache Awareness Month

June is National Migraine & Headache Awareness Month. A migraine is much more than a headache. It is a neurological disease that impacts 40 million people in the United States & is the #2 cause of disability worldwide. Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, light or sound sensitivity, dizziness, & pulsing pain around the eyes, temples, sinuses, jaw or neck.

Stress, irregular sleep, poor diet, dehydration & the overuse of caffeine are considered migraine triggers. While there is no cure for migraines, we are in the era of new treatments, therapies & approaches to managing the disease. Those who experience headaches & migraines regularly should visit their healthcare provider to receive a proper diagnosis & treatment.
